Leather armor from Vikings to LARP

Leather armor and its interpretation in the modern LARP and historical reenactment culture is a controversial topic. It is obvious that leather had been used for armor making and we see examples in different cultures, but a lot of people who want to stay close to the historical sources have a problem with modern pop-culture Viking leather armor and Fantasy leather armor kits. Studded leather armor existed in many cultures, as well as leather was widely used as a base layer of many armor kits, from Mongols to Vikings to Medieval Europe brigandines.
ArmStreet has several different kits of leather armor, from several Viking male leather armor kits to female Viking armor, from Fantasy leather corsets to historically inspired knight brigandines.
